Sarasota Memorial Health Care System

Bay Systems Inc. is proud to be associated with the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, winner of the national 2004 MS-HUG (Microsoft Healthcare Users Group) Hospital of the Year award for its work in health care informatics, with patient safety as the driving force. U.S. News & World Report ranked Sarasota Memorial Hospital among the top 50 “America’s Best Hospitals” in six specialties for 2006.
Sarasota Memorial Hospital is a fully JCAHO accredited (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) 806-bed regional medical center and the second largest public hospital in Florida.

Bay Systems’ first assignment was to provide project management for implementation of the Cerner Bridge Medical bar coding system, "Cerner Bridge Specimen Collection." This software integrates with Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager and the Meditech laboratory system. The Bay Systems’ project manager coordinates a project team of representatives from lab, nursing, information systems, executives and multiple vendors.

Since that first assignment, Bay Systems has partnered with Sarasota Memorial Hospital to provide support for multiple projects. Early in 2007, for example, Bay Systems consultants worked as part of the Sarasota Memorial team to roll out the new Emergency Care Center computer system to review, track and discharge patients. Bay Systems also is working with a multi-disciplinary team tasked with standardizing the process of medication administration at Sarasota Memorial. The project is a continuation of efforts to help ensure that the right medication is given to the right person, in the right dose, with the right route at the right time. The goal is to enhance safety and improve the medication administration process for both patients and caregivers.
